A UK election that's too close to call

With just a few hours left the contest to lead the Liberal Democrat party is too close to call - the first time we've had an election you can say that about in the UK for a very long time. Even the website says it is too close to call. Will it be Chris Huhne, the ex-economics journalist, or Sir Menzies Campbell, the party grandee? Could Simon Hughes surprise us all? Unlikely. Does it matter? Yes if there was a hung parliament.

Stop press: Not so so close after all. Campbell won with 57% of the vote in the second round - story here.
